Chocolate Dog Marketing Services undertook a twelve-week research study into timber purchasing polices practices on the demand side and the supply side. The objectives included identifying the purchasing policies, practices and patterns of the larger and more influential organisations and businesses in Cornwall, identifying opportunities for increasing sales of locally grown timber and developing a route map and an action plan to help the development of the local timber industry.

The Context

This was the first time any such research had been carried out so major detective work was needed to identify the key influencers. Whilst the suppliers were well known within the timber sector, many did not appreciate the options available to market their products and were relying on word of mouth against a backdrop of increasing competition from other areas of the UK and Europe.

The Solution

The report provided a series of practical recommendations to the Cornish Timber industry.
