ISSF Shotgun World Cup

We were retained to promote the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) Shotgun World Cup. This was the first time the World Cup has been held in the UK for over 25 years, and one of the high profile events supported by UK Sport in the run up to the London 2012 Games.

The Context

The ISSF Shotgun World Cup took place in Dorset in May 2010. Supported by UK Sport, British Shooting and many regional partners, this event attracted over 350 competitors from over 50 countries. Each stakeholder had a number of objectives so the campaign needed to work hard to meet the objectives of all the stakeholders to lever maximum value for their investment.

The Solution

This covered three areas:

  • Chocolate Dog Marketing Services developed a detailed marketing action plan, signed off by all partners
  • Working in partnership with the stakeholders, we cascaded regular news updates using their magazines, Tourist Information Centres and websites. For PR we arranged footage on YouTube with Mark Tyler, photography by Roy Riley, Geoff Moore and shooting specialist, Don Brunt, and we linked extensively to the Shooting Press and to sports and news journalists regionally and nationally
  • Organising a media day hosted by international sports broadcaster Mark Tyler, one of the Chocolate Dog specialists, with tuition from the top Team GB athletes.

Chocolate Dog Marketing Services raised the profile of the event, locally and nationally. Tailored communications highlighted business opportunities and the legacy to the area, raised the profile of Britain’s very talented athletes and with the support of the local media and the Shooting Press, encouraged people who have never tried the sport to try it out and people of all ages and abilities to volunteer.
