Bristol City - becoming selected to be part of 2018

Bristol needed to be selected by the FA as one of the host cities in England’s bid to host the FIFA 2018 World Cup. Competition was intense from across the UK so it was essential that Bristol be seen as a serious contender with great public support.

The Context

With many cities vying for the honour of selection as a host city by the FA only 12 cities would be selected by the England 2018 FIFA World Cup bid. It was vital that a creative campaign communicated Bristol’s passion and pride for football.

The Solution

The Bristol Bid Team developed a detailed bid document while Chocolate Dog Marketing Services worked with partners to develop a public campaign across the City and the South West to show support for the City’s bid. A combination of using partnership marketing, creative communications and a 4-metre giant football toured Bristol and the surrounding region to ensure that Bristol was selected. In addition, the campaign provided the England bid team with a range of iconic images.
